Yes. Solar panels generate from daylight, not just direct sun, so they still produce useful power on the bright, overcast days that are common here. A south-facing, unshaded spot gives the most, but east- and west-facing balconies still deliver good output across the day.

For most houses, solar usually falls under permitted development. If you rent or live in a flat, you'll normally need sign-off from your landlord, freeholder or managing agent. Listed buildings and conservation areas have extra rules, so it's worth checking with your local planning office first.

UK wiring rules are stricter than in some European countries, so we don't recommend simply plugging a generation source into a standard socket. Any system that can export to the grid should be notified to your local network operator (a G98 application) — something our installation service takes care of for you.
